One of the key areas the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford wanted a solution for was better dissemination of information to students. They wanted to make sure students are well aware of what was happening on campus so they could combat the 'nothing to do' mentality and get students more involved in campus life. They needed a way to send timely announcements and information, which would increase event attendance and eventually help drive student retention objectives.
Pitt Bradford implemented Involvio's CampusKit solution for their students in 2019. Bernie Picklo, Academic Technology Integrator at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford talks to us about the impact they have noticed on student engagement on campus since.
What do you love most about Involvio?
We love the ability to quickly communicate with our users. Whether it is events, important announcements, or weather-related cancellations, the power to notify our users of essential information is fast and simple.
Which features do you use the most?
We have several features that are the most heavily used among our students. Campus events are frequently posted and allow our students to know what is going on so they can be involved in activities they might not otherwise know about.
The students also love being able to check the dining hall menu at any time.
We use a separate service for our laundry machine status, and we were able to link that to our campus app. Now the students can monitor the progress of their laundry using their phone in the comfort of their rooms without having to sit and wait.
How easy or difficult is it to get students to download and use the app?
We have a high adoption rate for our campus app with little effort in pushing the students toward it. We have used signage, email blasts, and social media, but word-of-mouth has been our best tool.
CampusKit not only helps universities better engage their students but it also offers a lot of personalization and flexibility. University admins and faculty get a super simple and dynamic dashboard to manage resources, events and pretty much everything students need to succeed on campus.
